Axel Straschnoy at Working on It, opening January 9th, Helsinki Contemporary
Axel Straschnoy’s piece Float, commissioned last year by Nya Småland for the Andrée Polarcenter in Gränna, Sweden, is featured in the exhibition Working on It.
The show opens on January 9th at Helsinki Contemporary and is curated by Mika Hannula. It presents different ways in which artists have dealt with contemporary issues.
As part of Float, Straschnoy launched an Andrée buoy replica towards the North Pole from the Lofoten archipelago, during a residency at the Maaretta Jaukkuri Foundation. A second buoy is now part of the collection of the Andrée Polarcenter and was exhibited there from October to December last year. The third buoy will be part of this exhibition.
The exhibition is open until early February.
